Are you looking to test your cooking skills and enhance your flavors with venison you hunted yourself? This flavorful dish is packed with lots of fresh ingredients that will ensure a full stomach and a big smile. So, take out your venison meat, grab some pans, and let’s make dinner for the common hunters!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound ground venison or shoulder, cubed small
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp basil
  • Pinch of cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Veggies: small, dice

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Spanish onion
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 Roma tomatoes

NEVER OVER COOK VENISON. IT WILL MAKE THE DISH SUPER DRY

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, add the oil and cook the meat until browned
  2. Strain the meat and set aside
  3. Add oil, bring back to temperature, add the onion, and cook for 5 minutes
  4. Add the tomatoes, potatoes, and carrots
  5. Turn temp to simmer and cover for 30 minutes
  6. Stir every 10 minutes and when veggies are tender, stir in meat
  7. Serve over a bed of brown rice and top it with minced cilantro and scallions
